Environment variables in headers

Has anyone ever considered an option to parse environment variables as
part of a Layout[Header|Footer] directive?  For example:

LayoutHeader "<! SERVER_NAME=%{ENV:SERVER_NAME} >"

I think this could prove to be _very_ handy.  I'm not opposed to coding
it myself, but I figured I'd toss the idea out there for anyone familiar
enough w/ mod_layout to be able to code it significantly faster than I
could.

Does anyone else see this feature as being beneficial?
