Didn't help me to reinstall.

The server-info page shows that mod_layout appears to be installed, 
activated and directives in proper order, but still, nothing happens.

Can't even get an html header to work, much less a php header.

Since the platform being upgraded is a test platform destined to replace 
a status only machine, I've converted the few pages I have to use 
includes rather than mod_layout.  Awaiting a non-alpha version.  Hoping 
it gets released before the main platform with the four virtual web 
sites gets upgraded.
