Yes, the intent all along was to have MySQL be the log 'repository,' but to have analysis of said logs take place out of the database, via a temporary file mimicing the format of the Apache combined log. Hence the make_combined_log.pl script. However, I think the idea of performing live analysys against MySQL's data a *very* good one. It would eliminate the whole process of log extraction, and would provide realtime status of the weblogs.
