CVS $Id$ tags and release tags...

What is the chance that $id$ tags can be added to the repository files, 
and it'd be nice if there where release tags on the files as well...
It is kina hard to diff a (old - pre-HEAD) local copy to cvs for changes 
without knowing the local file revision....

I'd be happy to do the work of adding $Id$ tags (is Brian the only one 
with write access to the repository ?)
