Mod_ruby error on Tiger

I installed Apache/2.0.54 on OSX 10.4.1(Tiger) and it runs fine with PHP and
everything else. However, I downloaded and compiled mod_ruby, and added in
the appropriate include data in httpd.conf and I am getting the following
error when I try to start apache:

Cannot load /usr/local/apache2/modules/mod_ruby.so into server: Symbol not
found: _rb_load_path\n  Referenced from:
/usr/local/apache2/modules/mod_ruby.so\n  Expected in: flat namespace\n

I have tried everything! Even reinstalling Apache, using the ports version,
and even using the ports version of modruby, but to no avail. I still get
the above error. Please advise.
