Greetings,

I am unable to compile mod_ruby 1.2.5 on a RedHat ES 4 64bit machine it
gives me:

 ./configure.rb --with-apxs=/usr/sbin/apxs
make
....
gcc -shared -L/lib64 -L'/usr/lib64' -Wl,-R'/usr/lib64' -o mod_ruby.so
mod_ruby.o ruby_config.o apachelib.o array_header.o table.o connection.o
server.o request.o upload.o cookie.o paramtable.o multival.o bucket.o
apache_request.o apache_multipart_buffer.o apache_cookie.o
-lruby-static -ldl -lcrypt -lm
/usr/bin/ld: /usr/local/lib/libruby-static.a(array.o): relocation
R_X86_64_32 against `a local symbol' can not be used when making a
shared object; recompile with -fPIC
/usr/local/lib/libruby-static.a: could not read symbols: Bad value
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [mod_ruby.so] Error 1

Any input as to the why of this error would be appreciated.
