I would like to second the notion of a new release. We had been looking at possible use of WSIF at our company, but had just about given up on it because it very much gave the appearance of a "dead" or "abandoned" project: - No release since early 2003. - Web site has broken and old links. - Documentation (both downloaded and online) is incomplete and contains "TODO's". Downloaded documentation does not match the online documentation. - Examples contradict what the documentation says is supported. For example documentation says only "object" messages are supported for JMS (which would be a big drawback), while the downloaded example for JMS actually uses Text Messages. - Unclear how much of the old IBM documentation still applies (old IBM documentation I run across online says alarming things like "no support for complex types", "not thread safe" etc.). - Included documentation has long listings of many API calls, the vast majority with absolutely no actual documentation describing what the purpose of the call is or how to use it. - Inability to download the latest source or look at bug or fix lists. - Little evidence of ongoing discussions or activity. - The downloaded release doesn't compile with Java 5. Perhaps if there was a new release that addressed some of these issues we could reconsider using it. Hope this email isn't too "negative", just trying to convey the impression a complete new-comer gets when they first encounter WSIF. Best regards, Craig Powers SOASTA, Inc.
