Are any -hackers reading here?

Hi, I'm still working on developing some Amanda 'applications' using the perl API ... making progress, but with some questions still in play: - Wiki suggests validate() could be run with no options, is that accurate? http://marc.info/?l=amanda-hackers&m=145686792909467&w=2 - $Amanda::Paths::localstatedir looks like it was intended as a place to store local state, $amdatadir was also suggested, is there a preference? http://marc.info/?l=amanda-hackers&m=145946122702620&w=2 - Is 'discover' an expected future subcommand, or an old idea that should be removed from the list? http://marc.info/?l=amanda-hackers&m=145686008806610&w=2 - What perl version and subset of modules should an application be restricted to? Wiki says perl 5.6.0 but is that old info? http://marc.info/?l=amanda-hackers&m=145952448006203&w=2 Thanks for any help. I especially want to be sure that I am not using disallowed perl versions or modules. Regards, Chapman Flack
