For the record, the original message containing the patch was:

  From: Jean-Louis Martineau <[email protected]>
Subject: Re: POSIX semaphore fd collision on macOS
  Date: Mon, 19 Feb 2018 14:09:43 +0000

It looks like Jean-Louis committed this into the upstream repo that day
  git-svn-id: https://svn.code.sf.net/p/amanda/code/amanda/trunk@7706 a8d146d6-cc15-0410-8900-af154a0219e0
  (git commit 3b8b650faf0ce7604ccaeb046ffa38fa9e74b870 )
and in the 3_5 branch:
  git-svn-id: https://svn.code.sf.net/p/amanda/code/amanda/branches/3_5@7707 a8d146d6-cc15-0410-8900-af154a0219e0
  (git commit 559a0e80664ef7274acef7ddefcb7e7dcf493c0d )
... but that is indeed after v3.5.1 was released in November 2017...
