RE: EXTERNAL: Re: collecting pending Amanda 3.5.x patches

If we / you have *any* patches that are useful to 3_5 .... for 3.5.1 or for a target 3.5.2 ... please consider that to be Zmanda's (and my) serious concern.

I was hoping we'd have more things somewhere in the git-piles or otherwise visible.

I have hopes, of a type, to see what else is going on in the master branch ... but it is *soo* old and kerfunkled and not worth our near-term time.   Many fixes (I'd heard) were the same between the two but still changes abound and the divergence of 3.5 and trunk seems to go on forever.

Can we drag in (for PRs or otherwise) any more legacy-fixes-or-patches out there?   Ideally this should be an OSS-free-for-all where the improvements are kept visible and used-if-better.   I'd thank you for the time but I've not seen them.   How old are we talking?

In the Jean-Louis days all this happened on the mailing lists (both amanda-users and -hackers).

A few of the fixes I have in mind Jean-Louis committed to the main repo's 3.5 branch before he left (but after the 3.5.1 release).  The rest are rather buried in the list archives, but at the point you are ready to start reviewing/comitting things, I (and presumably others) will be happy to cull the key patches and highlight/resend them for you.

I am not sure about Red Hat off hand.  Ubuntu itself does not have its own patches, but the Debian source package has a bunch, many of which are Debian specific but a few of which should definitely be considered for upstreaming.

(This came up in an earlier amanda-users disussion under the Subject:
"upstreaming patches currently found in Debian Amanda packages", and on Fri, 24 May 2019 14:37:15 +0000 you mentioned that you had pulled the patches from the Debian source repo into the upstream repo, but as far as I have noticed nothing happened to them after that.  Though off hand because the patches mix in Debian-packaging-specific stuff I am inclined to think it will be easier for you to look at specific patches one at a time rather than try to work off a branch...)
