URLs would be excellent, if possible.   I'd gather things up and maybe slurp any patches or attachments if that's the main pattern.

For those fixes that already have patches in the list archives, do you have a particular preference as to which mode of "highlighting" is best?

  A) send in an email the message From/Subject/Date headers from the
     original message
  B) send a URL pinting to the thread in question at some list-archive
     website
  C) re-send the entire message in question as a new message

(Historically Jean-Louis just committed things to Zmanda's SVN repo directly, so there is not really a tradition of cloned repos or PRs,

Agreed.  There may be a few cases where reviewing master-v.s.-3.5 will be useful, but mostly the urgent focus is just 3.5.

There may be a topic or two worth putting separately into a PR, but mostly I think these issues are so simple that it's going to be less work overall at this point for you just to commit it yourself directly from the email.
