Sorry, I should have been clearer.  I read the question as
'doas anyone still use blocked tape devices?" to which I
answered yes, as I have an LTO tape library I use.  But ...

1) I don't currently use it with amanda, and

2) I don't run Linux anywhere.

Right now I back up using shell scritps to dump to gzipped
files, then manually copy the files to tape, using tar.

I am planning to resurrect amanda everywhere, including the
tape library, but that won't happen until late spring.  And
even then, the library will be attached to a host running
one of FreeBSD or OpenSolaris, so not much help either way.
