To follow up. There was no data written to tape. On one system, amstatus indicated that it was 
trying to locate a tape, but that never succeeded.

Both systems backed up to holding disk. I have some space left on holding disk, but not enough to 
get beyond tonight, and tonight is likely to fall baqck to incrementals only.
