suddenly have crc errors on one of my /home/gene directories

Greetings all;

I am getting this error for the last 3 days:

FAILURE DUMP SUMMARY:
  coyote /home/gene/Pictures date 20201104020105 lev 0  partial taper: 
source server crc (79fec0fd:11146383360) and input server crc 
(7bcd2c6c:11146383360) differ)

And that particular backup is missing from the done list in the email 
from amanda.
Looking in /sdb/dumps/ (its a terrabyte of spinning rust) I see

How should I go about troubleshooting this?
On the first error I looked that tree over and found some iffy file names 
and nuked the trash.

An ls -lR |wc -l on that path says only 5406 files.
Or should I nuke this and see what happens next run?

An attempt to flush paused for 30 seconds and returned this:

That ALWAYS_SET_PATH squawk has been there since I installed stretch, and 
is NOT part of my configs or scripts else it would have been fixed yonks 
ago.
