     Never actually done this, but it looks to me like you'd need to do 
the following (tailor to your specifics)

     vgchange --resizeable  <vgname>
     vgextend  < ... options ... > <vgname> <pvname> <pvname> ...

Or just blow away the volume group and recreate it

     vgcreate < ... options ... > <vgname> <pvname> <pvname> ...

No experience to comment on zfs vs. ext4.
