If you ever like to read the tape on SHI IRIX or on AIX, you may fail because
the driver or the SCSI hostadaptor does not support the blocksize of 9 MB.

I am not sure about the compression, but it seems that the transfer rate for
the basic drive is 3.25 MB/s if you get less, you have a problem. If you
get something between 3.25 MB/s and  6.5 MB/s everything is within the
specs....
