Thanks Jörg,

I cannot find any references regarding constructing incremental backup using 
combinations of full and partial  dumps, docs.sun.com mentions nothing regarding 
  partial dumps w.r.t ufsdump.

Is there a safe way I can cheat the referencing or otherwise achieve what I require.

I would like to take a full dump at 0 but I could just use the exclude token on 
all dump levels and thus explicity only use partial dumps,

Is there any dangers to restoring the file system when only using partial dumps?
