Did anyone have any thoughts on what I might have done wrong? Restoring a 10k file at the tail end of an archive on my DLT1 drive can take 3 hours. It only takes 5 minutes to seek to the spot I need to get it (if it worked). Thanks! Wayne. ________________________________ From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Buttles, Wayne Sent: Monday, December 12, 2005 3:40 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [Star-users] Using star and fsr The man page for star alludes to being able to start from a place other than the beginning of the archive using "mt fsr blockno". I have tried a number of combinations and they all end with an error: mt -f /dev/nst0 rewind mt -f /dev/nst0 fsr 1 star -v -x f=/dev/nst0 * star: Unknown archive type (neither tar, nor bar/cpio). Has anyone else had this work and can tell me where I am going wrong? I used to use this with tar. star 1.5a08 RedHat AS3 Both HP DLT1 and Certance LTO2 Thanks, Wayne.
