I have used star for about a year to backup about 50 gigs of tape (4 tapes). I am not an advanced user by any means. Basically, I draw a full backup once a month and then have changes backed up each night. This was working fine for about a year. Suddenly, I began having problems with multivolume spans. A full dump would make it through an entire tape, prompt me to change it, and then when I did and hit return, the terminal window it was running in would vaporize and the backup would end there. I could make nightly backups though (don't require entire tapes). I can also see what is on a single tape. It may be somehow related to a kernel or something. I started happening about 3 months ago. I was running FC4. I updated to FC5 and it still happens. I also changed tape drives and it still happens. any ideas. I'm sure you will need more info, but I don't know what to give you. I am currently running FC5 with 2.6.15-1.2054_FC5smp. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
