Sync pipe read error problem is as far as I can see not dependend on the shell. I tried several shells but all with the same result. The linux server is a Intel Xeon 2.4, 1 Gb RAM and 2.6.15 kernel. I use the debian etch distribution. I use version star 1.5a67 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) from this distribution and I also tested a self compiled version 1.5a75. I can restore data from tape without any problems but I can't write data to tape. Even in the most simple form I get inmediatly a sync pipe read error. /opt/schily/bin/star -c -v f=/dev/st0 ./home a home/ directory a home/baartr/ directory a home/baartr/.bashrc 2227 bytes, 5 tape blocks a home/baartr/.bash_profile 414 bytes, 1 tape blocks a home/baartr/.bash_logout 220 bytes, 1 tape blocks a home/ftp/ directory a home/ftp/welcome.msg 166 bytes, 1 tape blocks a home/ldap-dbd/ directory a home/ldap-dbd/log.0000000001 10485760 bytes, 20480 tape blocks /opt/schily/bin/star: Success. Sync pipe read error on pid 7719 flags 0x0. /opt/schily/bin/star: 0 blocks + 0 bytes (total of 0 bytes = 0.00k). Any suggestions Met vriendelijke groet/Regards, Ruud Baart Prompt, Kerkstraat 173 5261 CW Vught, Netherlands Tel: +31 73 6567041 http://www.prompt.nl
