Actually no, it got worse...now user extended attributes are not preserved
either...but it's probably my fault.
Unfortunately, I'm off site for the next day or two so I'm speaking from
memory...

I did have a quick glance at the make log and there were a number of "Nos"
during the make check phase.
It seems that your make file is very tolerant :) and, rather than bombing
out, it does the best job it can for the given target.

I probably need some extra XATTR/ACL libraries installed.
Is there a definitive list of Linux library/kernel/filesystem dependencies
somewhere that will give me full functionality of latest version?

Will report back when I get this working...I think it will be useful info
for other new Linux users like myself.
