In my experience the Focusrite analog stages and converters are better than the ADA8000, although I haven't measured them. (Haven't used a 18i20 yet, but I did use the old Pro26 and the Liquid 56 for professional recording, although for critical signals I had two Micstasies hooked up to their ADAT ports. I was never annoyed by the the Focusrite preamps. That said, I'm also not a person to be inspired by a preamp, I just want something that does the job correctly.)
