Years ago another friend owned a very nice Hughes & Kettner tube preamp that was very good for recording guitars directly played through the mixing console, even if it wasn't aimed for that kind of (mis)usage. Anyway, at least in the past Arts provided good and cheap tube preamps for microphones and other purposes.
