Keep in mind that this may make for a less than ideal user-interface.
There's only so much you can get out of a single fader and a few buttons
while keeping the UI ergonomic.

Perhaps you could re-assign one button to function as "Link", alike the
Faderport8 and Faderport16 control-link mode.
ie. make the rotary encoder (or fader) control the the currently focused
(mouse over) element in the GUI. That also works for plugin-controls or
any automatable.
