hm, yes, i guess this is not my problem though, as it consistently works 
fine when i first open ardour, but then *sometimes* stops working after 
some time. i have to quit and relaunch ardour to get it working again, 
but if it has stopped once it is almost certain to stop working again 
soon afterwards, until (i suppose - i have to test this further) a 
restart of the computer.
