That is a good idea.
That is something we could look into.
I dislike git submodules, so I don't want us to be doing git submodules -
but that doesn't preclude the possibility of cmake making a tarball that
has wxWidgets (and its dependencies).  And maybe too someone will talk
sense into me, that since we have submodules in wxwidgets anyway, it is no
worse doing submodules in Audacity too.
