When we revisit the effects manager we also want to address this bug: https://bugzilla.audacityteam.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2452 It's a P2 issue. We rarely make enhancement requests P2. I'd like us to move to something more like this (from MuseScore). We can do better than it in a number of ways. It's 'just a start'. [image: image.png] I think the Musescore plugin manager uses space better than we do, and it has the option of more information about each plugin. That's good. [we should also later use it for modules, which are 'just' substantial plugins] I also think that just defining 'Favorites' is too specific. We want to offer other top-level items, and in time an actual ability to construct a menu. The revamping of plugins is clearly more than 12-15 hours work. I think the route is to come up with an overall plan - possibly a plan that involves a series of steps, and then carve out a piece that is the right size for you. Possibly you could do this dialog, missing out the shortcuts, and in the right panel have the option to choose a submenu, e.g. initially just favourites or standard. Others could add the shortcuts, the more flexible menu construction, de-duplication and other refinements. Does that first step sound too much for what you planned? --James.
