My Win 10 PC has a 1TB Spinning Metal disk in addition to the 256GB SSD So I thought I'd try for SM-HD versus SSD On W10 SM-HD (seconds) MP3: 17.6 18.3 18.0 WAV: 17.1 12.5 15.5 AAC: 11.5 10.8 17.2 But note my temp files and thus the project are on the SSD On W10 SSD (seconds) - this is my earlier test MP3: 18.6 16.5 16.1 WAV: 44.5 21.7 25.1 AAC: 26.7 12.9 18.2 So a) a significant improvement with spinning metal for WAV b) the initial export of each file-type is no longer slower than the following two (a bit so for WAV) The way I use this PC is that the 1TB HD is mainly used for less frequently edited stuff, my photos my iTunes libraries and my less frequently used files. The SSD is used for all active Audacity work. But maybe these tests d=suggest that I may be better off with active Audacity projects and possibly the Audacity temp files on the HD. Peter.
