Steve, what happens if you try to run the same version multiple times?  I’m on Ubuntu 20.10 and when I try to execute the same executable it brings the already running Audacity to the front.

Do  we still check that only one instance of Audacity is running?

If so, that's not working.

I'll send a screenshot separately in case the mailing system blocks it.
