That’s not what I recall. When attempting to launch a second Audacity, it just failed. It did not bring the currently-running Audacity to the front and it did not zoom the window.

So, on my Mac …

Start 3.0.2. Fine
Switch to Finder
Start 3.0.0
3.0.0 icon appears briefly in the dock
3.0.2 icon bounces a few times in the dock then stops
Audacity 3.0.2 window zooms to “fill the screen” but not “full screen” (same as option-click on the green zoom button)
Audacity 3.0.2 does not come to the front.
Switching to Audacity 3.0.2, an option-click on the green zoom button restores the previous window position and size.

I complained about this maybe a year ago and others could not reproduce it. Now Peter is seeing it consistently on his Mac, as am I (both Catalina and Big Sur).

I this really important? Perhaps not. P3?

But it is annoying and it is definitely unintended and unwanted behaviour and makes us look bad.
