Hi
do you subscribe to these stations or are they free ,most of the free stations will stop the broadcast in an hour or two
they usually do not like being recorded they would leave you joined but no audio, if you can get 5 hours without music stopping from time to time you are very lucky.????
    THANKYOU DAVE-211

Subject: [Audacity-users] two different setups, same issue

Hi all,

Can someone please help me out here? The first machine I tried this on is a Dell Inspiron 3542 laptop with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and latest Audacity, connected to the home network via WiFi. The next computer I tried it on was an older HP desktop, Windows 7 Home Premium, not sure of the exact model of the computer or version of Audacity, 2.0.6 I believe, whatever the latest version as of end of August 2014 was. This computer is the only thing other than the printer wired directly into the network.

The issue is that I tell Audacity to record for a length of time, usually two hours or more, then walk away, shutting the speakers off so I’m not monitoring, though I do check in periodically. Although a friend has told me that one of the internet streams I’m trying to record doesn’t time out, I haven’t tested this out myself. The other two streams, only one of which I’ve tested with my desktop, I’m sure don’t time out. The only common thread seems to be Audacity recording, using Stereo Mix in both cases. Can anyone tell me how to resolve this issue? I’ve gone so far as to reset Audacity preferences and run CCleaner fairly deeply on the laptop, none of which helped in any way except to cause the fan to not rev up to full speed during recording.

Bob
