Re: refresh file

By default, Audacity copies the audio data from files when importing, so
the audio data in Audacity is NOT the audio data in the file. Thus,
modifying the audio file outside of Audacity will make no difference to the
Audacity project.

For uncompressed audio file types (such as WAV or AIFF), there is an option
(non-default) to read audio data directly from the file and not copy the
data. In this case, modifying the audio file outside of Audacity will
automatically and immediately  change the sound of the Audacity track, but
the appearance of the waveform will not be updated until some operation is
performed that forces Audacity to update the waveform. Note that Audacity
is not designed to be used this way, so the results may be unpredictable
and you may lose data.
