Online Security and non-SSL

How can the audacity team take online security very seriously and work hard
to ensure the safety of our users
<http://www.audacityteam.org/download/online-safety-when-downloading/> if
audacityteam.org doesn't use SSL?

There are some free solutions (e.g., letsencrypt) and I see the site is
using wordpress, and many WP hosting companies will provide something like
this.
