Setting Speed of CD-ROM?

Hello

I just passed through the documentation of paranoia! Great work!
But my linux is not yet ready, and this does not yet work on "OS X".
But in the future...

My question is: Is there any forced "CD-read" speed setting option?
Because I have one CD-ROM, i was until now only able to rip "correctly" 
with single speed (1x).
(I think the CD is not properly centered)

I think this should be possible, so if you have alot of jitter you can 
try with a slower speed?

Or did I miss something?
