Winamp not in default directory

 have winamp installed on a partitioned drive.
I installed the most recent version of Flac which includes the plugin for
winamp. However, .flac files are not recognized in winamp.. Is it because
the install file did not find winamp in the default directory, therefore
assuming it wasn't installed? Can I download the pugin and install it
myself?
