Hi, just an idea from a user that has posted only very few times on this list: Wouldn't it be possible to connect GitHub and the mailing list? The github API allows you to read/create/comment issues. You would need to run a script that creates a new mailing list thread for every issue opened on github and also creates a github issue for every new mailing list thread in reverse. For the follow-up mail / github comments the same. This way all users have all communication and can choose the system they prefer. The only thing that could be tricky is posting patches on the mailing list. At best this script would be integrated that into the mailing-list system somehow, so the sender name can be set to the github account name. A quick search shows other were looking for something similar, but there doesn't seem to a common solution.
