I was actually thinking of using Csound to generate midi out from midi in, so
it would certainly be fast enough for that because no audio would be
generated. So sr could be kr. It could be used for midi sequencing apps and
misc midi tools for live shows. And it might even be fast enough for limited
audio, I played with a tracker app for one that was pretty impresive.
Obviously Csound would be more CPU hungry, but still, I'd be surprised if you
couldn't make say a simple mono synth or a drum machine.
