Hmm, there is no quoted email, so I'm not sure which problems you have that are
the "same." But, I would suggest if on windows that you download CsoundAV and
start working through the tutorials on csounds.com. Even though they are not
midi examples, they are necessary in order to be able to understand the overall
csound methodology and also to understand other tutorials. Then you can go about
midifieying them if that's how you plan to work. 

The reason I suggest CsoundAV is because right now the other builds are in a
real state of flux. Once Csound5 is completed we'll have major improvements in
both language and cross platform compatibility, but at the moment you can't
really go wrong learning with CsoundAV and it's easier to get it going and
working than CsoundVST. ( I believe Michael will be attacking that soon enough
though, no 'diss intended. )

I must also recommend trying out linux if you are not inseperably wedded to a
specific windoze only midi app. I used to be a huge Sonar fan, and now that my
linux and python chops are respectable, I just don't want to use windoze again
unless someone's paying me to. ; ) It's a bit tricky to get into though, so it
might be wise to play with a dual linux-windows install ( maybe Planet CCRMA or
Agnula for linux, or Gentoo if you don't mind spending some time learning linux ).
