Hello everybody!
PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY.
It seems that Yahoo Groups are not safe anymore. On this announcement
list, I am the only one who should be able to post messages. So I
didn't disabled attachments distribution. Now it looks like a VIRUS
was spread over the mailing list!
I have now deactivated attachments (and even more set myself on
moderated posting), please excuse my fault! I hope that most people
would not open attachments in messages without real text. If you have
opened the attachment, please download a virus scanner and scan your
computer, a small help file will be below the mail.
I would like to state that these virus does not come from my computer,
they are posted from some infected computer. By some coincedence the
sender and the target mail address fit exactly, as only this special
combination is allowed to post... You can see that easily, the sender
is "su" instead of "Andre Wiethoff" and my mail server has the IP
212.7.146.4, which was not used in this context. I had no knowledge
until some users replied, as my virus scanner filters these virus
mails directly out. At the moment I receive around 15000 virus mails
per day.
Anyway, I should have made my account more restrictive, sorry about
that.
The current state of EAC is progressing, I have some more changes to
make, but I am working on it.
cu, Andre
Information for removal:
If you have opened any of the attachments, you are most probably
infected with a virus. Please use a virus scanner to remove the virus.
This can usually done completly and with no harm to the system and the
files in it. If you don't have a virus scanner (you should have one!)
please download one of these below (or let your system scan remotely
over the web). They told me that the virus was W32.Beagle.AP@mm (also
known as WORM_BAGLE.AJ). Please follow the instructions of the virus
scanners. If they report a virus, agree to remove it. Afterwards, shut
down the system (not suspend to RAM or whatever) and restart the
system. Scan again and make sure that the virus is really gone, the
virus scanner should not find a virus anymore).
