That may certainly be true. I wouldn't try to refute it. But to be fair, doesit really matter? I've used CDex for years and if it introduces a few errors,they certainly aren't noticeable. I still fire up CDex if I just want to grab a quick copy of a library CD I'm listening to.
But I started to use EAC to rip to high quality .flac files. CDs aren't HiRezquality music by most definitions but if you want keep the music as good asit is coming off the CD then ripping it to high level .flac files is the way to go.Ripping a CD to compressed .mp3 files definitely lowers the quality of the music you end up with.

Independent tests have shown that, unlike EAC, CDex does not produce error-free rips. For example, one comparison test revealed that CDex reported zero errors while EAC and Feurio reported numerous errors on the same damaged CD in the same drive. Needless to say, errors were present in all rips.

I went to the trouble because I wanted to rip everything to .flac format and because of claim that it is the most accurate ripping software.
When you set it up, did you use the wizard? It so, it should work just fine when you get done.
If you only want to rip to .mp3 format, I recommend using CDex. It is a free, open sourced software package that works right out of the box. It can be found on most software sites.
Good luck in whatever you choose to do.

Hi,
My attempts over the last 5 years to make EAC work (and using LAME) have met with failure. It's embarrassing really, but in the long run I'm just a consumer.
I tried it again this week with my Windows 10 machine and EAC only outputs as wav files.It was my recollection that last time LAME integration was my downfall.
AND not only is there no mp3 or FLAC choice, I received inconsistent error messages during wav file production (different tracks showed error each time I tried to copy a non-scratched Savoy Brown CD)
Is there another command line I need to use on the path dialog screen to get mp3 choice? Do I need to put lame.exe in a very specific place? x86 folder as its own folder correct? Or in the EAC folder? Is this my problem?
I am an avid music listener. When I last mp3-ed my CD collection with MusicMatch, storage was pricey and I did all files at 128 bit rate.
I would love to do 320 or VBR and even consider FLAC.
Could someone point me to any download and install directions that a 3rd grader could understand?
Either that or I need to settle for 3rd party pay for software, but I would rather be a purist like you folks :)
Do I give up and burn with Winamp (this uses LAME correct? Is this a leg up over other ripping software at least?)
