I have hit upon using a cheap Android cell phone or tablet that has OTG 
support for an external DAC
and external drives ... most recently an LG G Pad 7.0 ... as an extra 
primarily music device, not for cell phone usage at all.

with a large microSD card installed it can standalone for easy usage 
thru bluetooth or direct headphone connection,
can stream internet audio if WiFi available (or if you pay for 
appropriate cell service and have cell service)

I can also hook up an external DAC to feed the amp and speakers.

As I write this I am streaming from WiFi a local college station on my 
Kyocera Hydro Icon
thru Bluetooth to my headphones.
( cost me less than $50) (which unfortunately does not do the OTG DAC)
