Hi Mark -
Thanks. Most of my flac files are created from CDs using data that EAC
finds on the web. But I also have a lot of vinyl and cassettes that I
have ripped to flac using Audacity for which I enter the track titles
myself. I mostly use a Sonos system that can read the track titles from
a NAS drive or hard disc but I also use WinAmp a bit and have an Ipod
for the car. The files I've ripped myself don't have any tags at the
moment.
I've always assumed that programmes such as Tagscanner and Mp3tag use
the track lengths to identify the parent CD; of course those I've ripped
myself will not correspond to the "proper" CD track lengths although
I've heard that Tune Up somehow reads the music to assign file names.
Each album is in its own folder titled <Artist> - <Album Title> and each
track is a single flac (or mp3) file. Are these programmes able to use
the information that is already there or do they need to access the web?
