I saw Mareo mentioned a while back and looked for it, but I can see on GitHub that someone registered an issue about not being able to download it. I think that may be at the time I was trying to find it so I gave up. However it did look pretty damned complicated, as you said, which is why I went for a purchase of dbPowerAmp at the time instead. I also don't think Easy Audio Copy was available then as, otherwise, I might've bought that instead. If I were you, I'd be inclined to buy something to do what you want. Compare the $30 it will cost for Easy Audio Copy, or $39 for dbPowerAmp against the hassle of re-encoding every CD to flac and I think you'll find it does make sense.
