Hi Ryan,
To rip to flac, you simply need to configure EAC in the following manner assuming you are using v 1.3.... Click on the EAC menu item at the top then click on compression options. On the external compression tab, check the use external program for compression box, add .flac in file extension box ( include the leading period), type the following in the program path box C:\Program Files (x86)\Exact Audio Copy\FLAC\FLAC.EXE, set bit rate to 1024, select high quality and check the remaining boxes. EAC comes with the flac program and by default is loaded in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Exact Audio Copy\FLAC\FLAC.EXE location.
Load a CD and select Action, Copy Selected Tracks, Compressed. EAC will first convert to a .wav format then execute the external flac program and create a rip in flac format.
Happy Listening.

Hi Ryan,
First, please let us know which EAC you are using. The original Exact Audio Copy or the newer (paid version) of Easy Audio Copy. They are from the same company but they work a little differently.
It has been some time since I have used Exact Audio Copy because I've been using Easy Audio Copy ever since I paid for it. It is definitely easier to use. You just choose at the start if you want to rip a CD as a WAV, FLAC or MP3. I usually choose both flac and mp3 so it does both at the same time. Ripping as FLAC gives you a little better quality (and less compression) but my 74 year old ears can't really hear the difference.
Easy Audio Copy has a separate file that can be edited to change the rip quality. It isn't intuitively obvious how to do it. I had to read up on the LAME software and change the file to get the best quality but it is the way I like it now. If you are using that and need any help, just email me.

Hi. I just started using EAC and I'm having trouble figuring out how to convert to flac format. Every time I try to do a compressed file copy it goes to wav format. When I installed it the flac checkbox was checked so I should have it. I'm using this as a guide: How to rip your music CDs to FLAC. It's version 1.3 on Windows 10. Thanks in advance.

How to rip your music CDs to FLAC
MP3s are convenient, but no matter how high the bit rate, they're still lossy music files. We'll show you how to...
