So if the peak volume level is 85% does that mean that the CD was created with that max volume level? Do different peak levels on different tracks just reflect that some are more louder or softer than others or is this something where we see different sound levels from song to song?

If a CD could not determine volume, then there could be no such thing as a quiet or loud passage. Everything would be equal volume, whether it was a harp or a recording of a cannon. If the cannon is the loudest sound on the CD, then it should have a peak level around 100%. If it’s only 50%, then the CD output is diminished in volume.
The purpose of the amplifier is to, not surprisingly, amplify the signal from the preamp enough that it can drive speakers. The gain is normally fixed in a power amplifier (there’s no volume control — that’s on the preamp).

Peak Level is really a measure of how fully the recording uses the 16 bits of resolution of the CD. Each 16 bit sample has a potential range of -32,768 to +32,767 for a total range of 65,536 possible values.. If a recording has a peak loudness of 65%, that means that it’s using only about 42.6k sample space of the 65.5k samples available (assuming nearly to equal swings to both sides of 0). In other words, it’s resolution is decreased by 35% over what it could be.
That’s probably a bit of an oversimplification, but I believe that it is basically accurate.

a. Peak level is how loud the loudest portion of the rip is in terms of
the maximum possible.
b. Not positive on this one, but I assume it's the number of sectors
that were read without any error.
c. The confidence level on AccuRip reports is the number of other rips
submitted to the database that are identical to your rip.
d. I assume "Copy OK" means that EAC was able to read all sectors
without error (eventually, in the case of sectors that had to be re-read).
2. EAC is telling you that all extracted tracks were reported as
bit-for-bit accurate by AccuRip database.
3. It means the same thing as the confidence for the AccuRip database,
but in reference to the Cuetools database.
