I use MediaMonkey, mainly because iTunes struggled with a very large collection - or it used to. I
gave up on it years ago. You can select which drives you want it to search, and while it does make a
local database which copies thumbnails of disc artwork, it doesn't try to copy all your music files
into it's own database. It does have enough file tagging scope to cover your needs, has it's own
built in player & can sync devices. As for entering your individual CDs, as opposed to rips, I think
it probably can do that too, but I'm not 100% sure, as I've not tried.

cost. You can use it for free, though, with few restrictions.
