I looked at groups.io, and I like the interface and features. If I'm 
reading it right, you can create a new group from scratch for free, and 
you get up to 1 GB storage space for files. If you want more space or 
some extra features, the group administrator has to buy a subscription 
that costs $220 or more per year.

If we would want to "transfer" this group to there, which I believe 
would preserve our message archives, files, and subscription list, they 
require a subscription.

So, if we want to preserve the knowledge base that's accumulated here it 
will cost a pretty hefty fee. It's unclear to me whether that fee is a 
one time thing or an ongoing subscription.
