This again begs the question (to me) shall I start an EAC user group on groups.io? Now that the archives have been lost, there may be only gains in the available features held there.
I seem to remember that Fred mentioned he would not mind if I did this.

Unfortunately, Yahoo has stripped away much of the moderating capability that group moderators used to have. I previously was to be able to set a member to moderated, unmoderated, or no-posting. Now it’s just no-posting or completely unmoderated — nothing in between. That limits my options a lot in flame wars, so I hope people about to flame each other keep in mind that I’m old, grumpy, and impatient. :)

That’s because your email admins aren’t savvy enough to make the lists moderated so that either only a select few are allowed to send OR each message (aside from a select few) has to be approved by a moderator... Really keeps those reply flame wars to a minimum.

Every email list I've ever been on in the history of the Internet has
the same problem. Even when my employer sends a broadcast email to
employees there will be a few people who reply-all asking not to send
them email. Somehow that goes through the server and tens of thousands
of people get those messages, then they start telling that person to
stop, and it's a cascade.
