Out of curiosity I sent the reply as plain text which can be selected from a pull-down menu in Outlook 2016.
Prior to sending all of the html links were then strung out.
After it went through Yahoo Group’s messaging it seems all of the mailto: links were removed.
I can then see that if a user was set up for plain text that the links might disappear.
Included again are one of those plain text links.

HTML coding can also greatly inflate the size of email messages. It becomes especially apparent when the original content is not trimmed during a reply.
Some user groups have html capabilities disabled for this reason.

Any email client that displays only plain text instead of HTML will not display the Yahoo Groups HTML-only footer. One such example that has been mentioned on this forum is MUTT.
It is of course safer for an email client to display only plain text and not process HTML in emails, because plain text is not active content. It can also be faster than an HTML-capable client. Finally, some people are just old-fashioned and prefer it.
The body of these messages appears to be available as both text and HTML. Why the footer is not also in both formats is the real "user-unfriendly" behavior, on Yahoo's part.

That's completely user-unfriendly, or worse. Why would a mailer do that?
There's bound to be important information there. A mailer should NEVER
alter the content of an email unless the user chooses for it to do so.
Do we know what mailers do that? Has anyone seen that behavior in
action? Can it be controlled with a setting?
