This mailing list does need HTML to function at its best.
Over the years, HTML has been extremely helpful for people to be able to include inline screenshots of EAC settings. It has provided font choices to members wishing to emphasize a particular word, phrase, or sentence. It allows members to conform to accepted standards of writing, such as writing album titles in italics.
Having started out on ASR-33 Teletypes and HP terminals that only displayed uppercase, I’m sure you could run a mailing list that was limited to 72 character lines of uppercase ASCII, but I hardly think that proves that there is no justification for anything beyond that.
